Batman and Bill - A Triumph of Truth

I just saw the Batman and Bill Documentary, and I think it's the best documentary I've ever seen in my entire life, as of now at least. It really feels like a well paced, and well structured screenplay.

We know Batman's creator to be Bob Kane. But turns out that was a lie. He was co-created by Kane, and Bill Finger.

Our protagonist is Marc Tyler, an avid comic book reader who always wondered about Batman's origin. So he decided to dedicate years of his life to research and try to figure out who was the REAL creator of Batman. The narration was brilliant, and the animation was even more spectacular!

The narrations are improved with the comic book style animation as we find out about Bill Finger. He had very little images and wasn't known to the public. We learn that, due to Superman's success, Bob Kane wished to do the same, not for the sake of creativity. But for that sweet cash! Him and Bill Finger created the true version of what we know and love as BATMAN.

But Bob Kane took the credit. He drew Bill's stories. But his name was all there was in the comics. Eventually, after Bill's public appearance in the world's first comic con, he decided to want credit for the stories he wrote. But this threatened Kane's public image, causing him to lie and silence Bill. He is the antagonist of the story. This documentary showed us the truth and now I have a passionate disliking for Bob.

It's extremely tragic. DC Comics refused to credit Bill due to the copyright issues it would cause. As Batman shows, comics, and movies released, Kane was the face of the dark knight. He gave many interviews, and was an eccentric personality who constantly made sure "HE" was the sole creator of these characters.

As Batman became popular, Kane became drowning in wealth, whereas Bill wasn't recognized for his character and was going through many monetary problems. As Kane promoted the Batman films, Bill wrote some small time comics. He had to write 2 stories a week. After writing one story, as he wrote the second one in his house.  No one had heard from Bill for long.

When Bill's friend came to his apartment to check up on him, and finds his friend lying dead in his bed. Bill Finger died alone in his apartment. He had no one. No family. He was alone.

Meanwhile when Kane died, he had a star in the "Hall of Fame", was loved by all. The varying fates of these 2 people was enraging.

Marc asks many Batman fans regarding Bill, but they didn't know. We love him because he's an active protagonist. He is dedicated to achieve his WANT. He learns more about the Finger family. He realizes that Bill had a gay son who died decades ago. He finds out that Bill had a granddaughter no one knew about. Athena Finger.

The scene where he finds her was beautiful as he visits her "MySpace" account and sees her Dog named Bruce Wayne. She's our new character. She had a complicated relationship with her deceased father. She's a flawed human being, and SHE'S REAL.

It is up to her now, to fight for the credit her grandfather deserved. Marc inspires her to fight. After many legal battles, after fan support, they won.

Warner Bros. finally agreed to credit Bill Finger as a co-creator of Batman.

I LOVE THIS DOCUMENTARY.

It shows us that the power of truth can be won through passion and perseverance.
